Davos Twitter Screenshot Who is @Davos?

@Davos is the official Twitter account of the World Economic Forum, best known for the Annual Meeting held every year in the Swiss resort of Davos-Klosters and a host of regional meetings. We chose the name of our host city as our Twitter handle when we set up the account back in April 2007 since WorldEconomicForum is, with 18 signs, too long. We have also secured the @WEF and are using it specifically for live tweeting from our events.

Who is behind @Davos?

@Davos is a corporate Twitter account managed by Matthias Lüfkens, (@luefkens, ^ml), Georgie Pilcher (@pilcherg, ^gp) and Anna Sims (@WEF_Anna, ^as). There are other occasional Forum Twitterati who are clearly indicated on our main Twitter page (http://twitter.com/Davos).

What is @Davos tweeting?

Our tweets are a work in progress and we are always striving to keep our feed interesting and valuable for our readers. We consulted our followers in July 2010, in August 2009 and in March 2009 and we learned that an overwhelming majority of our followers said yes to live tweeting from the Annual Meeting in Davos and from our regional meetings.

Twitter interviews, like the one we organized with Queen Rania, are another Twitter usage requested by our followers. We plan sporadic interviews, talks or briefings with world leaders which might also be shown on our Livestream channel where you can ask questions via Twitter, Facebook or the chat function.

For all our events we have created specific Twitter lists http://twitter.com/davos/lists including our participants active on Twitter. The specific Twitter lists are a particularly great read during each event to gauge the immediate reaction and get live feedback directly from our participants.

As we have done in the past we will re-tweet and otherwise highlight interesting news from our friends, members, partners and participants that we stumble upon. We strive to follow the advice of @billshander, one of our followers: “be a continuous issue-driven thought leadership platform” and we hope to fulfil the suggestions of @rogerheo which was to “keep bringing something only Davos can create”.

You will also find the occasional job posting in our Twitter feed and the weekly Follow Friday #FF. We believe Twitter is a conversation and we are always happy to hear your feedback. Simply follow us and send us replies to @Davos.
