Bloggers answer the Davos Question

The blogosphere is already starting to grapple with the Davos Question 2008. Several prominent names have posted, giving their answers to “What one thing do you think that countries, companies or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?”. Less than a week after it was launched, the Davos Conversation video was the 30^th most watched on YouTube with almost half a million viewers.

Half a million viewers does not mean that the economical and political leaders will actually take notice of the youtube comments?

if we stay skeptical the only think that we do is to give them a good excuse to continue this ((wonderful development of our life))….so just act and hope!
OUR existence have three basic parts : matter energy and information…..(a filter code of recognition with reward and punish effects) ….which??? actions that deal with this three parts are helping the general good and which not.

The world economy needs help. I know a solution.
Tax plans do not work. Lowering or making them higher doesnt work.
The ECONOMY needs money.
I can solve the economy problem and am wondering why no one else sees it as simple as I do.
This country needs a new market one that the US is very good at.
Well, what products do Americans export the most? I am not an expert but I see Coke Budweiser and Tobacco everywhere around the world.
We sell chemical mood enhancers around the world at superior product quality and for cheaper cost than anyone else in the world. We need to tap into the new market that marajuana could offer our farmers and this country.
We need a president that will step outside the box take a stand and recognize this opportunity to bring the US back to a top exporter, create jobs, help farmers and reinvigorate the economy.
There is a demand for this product. A product that is safer than alcohol and all natural with little need for addities or preservatives. You can grow it again and again fairly quickly like tobacco.
We sell caffiene, nicotine and alcohol all which have pluses and minuses, marajuana has them too and we have the best farmland in the world. We could be the top suppliers in the world on a global scale.
Imagine the possibilities if the tobacco industry got involved and started this market and got taxed.
This country would be out of recession and a huge boost to the economy would occur and desperately needed jobs would be instantly created.
Guaranteed.
What are the reasons that these politicians deny this market that we could tap into?
We would have such a boost to the economy we could fund universal healthcare like they have in every other civilized country.
This country was founded by people with a pioneering spirit. We need a pioneering president to break new ground open new markets and rejuvenate this country and get us to love it and believe in it once again.
Strengthing the home and heartland especially USA farmers would make this country strong.

Humans haven’t found the antidote for war after all these centuries.
We need to change the “economics” of war. Any country classed as an “aggressor” will pay a “fine” (be it monetary compensation, humanitarian aid or other such). Where the “aggressor” cannot be clearly resolved, each country involved in the conflict, will donate a certain amount towards the relief.
Peer pressure/gentle diplomacy just doesn’t seem to work.

If we look at the world’s political, economic and social system, our hope in facing these challenges lies in the use of a simple but effective tool: openness.
2008 should be the year of openness -an open political system in order to combat disenfranchised voters, an open economic system to avoid hidden financial costs and economic imbalances and an open social system to leverage the amazing potential the world’s population has collectively to achieve progress in combating the uneven distribution of wealth, knowledge and negative environmental externalities.
As a blogger on mobile/web trends, I see technology as part of the solution to achieving greater openness.
If we want the world to connect and integrate to face the difficult challenges ahead, we should promote open social and technological platforms and widen access to these platforms to all regions of the globe.
How else will we unite billions of people around a single issue, such as future environmental threats?Only by getting the wider community to interact openly will we be able to take positive action to solve such issues.

It is important not to let the richest nations to hide from this issue. Most of the wealthiest nations have now signed and adopted the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. The legal and diplomatic framework is now in place to fight corruption across national borders.
The tools and procedures developed by the World Bank Institute’s Governance & Anti-Corruption Program must be implemented and put to work in the world’s richest countries:
By that I mean, the fight against corruption must not be quarantined to the poorest countries.
