Situated in the Usern Valley, Andermatt was a well known, excellent ski community and economic enterprise until WWII. Many of you have probably never been there to note the original Belvedere Hotel, standing but no longer used.
Zermatt, on the other hand, has become one of the hottest attractions along with St. Moritz, Davos, Kitzbuhl and other locales in Switzerland.
Andermatt should be as successful as Zermatt. It is not. WWII military construction in the mountains (caves) stopped its development, and the region has never recovered.
