Often during the year, the World Economic Forum co-organizes events at its headquarters in Geneva to facilitate a variety of projects.

On Thursday and Friday this week, the World Economic Forum will host two meetings at its headquarters – both of which are co-organized with other groups.

The first meeting on Thursday 17 March, is a roundtable on Mobility.

About 35 people are expected to attend this event which is co-organized with the Global Commission on International Migration. The roundtable will provide the Commission with the input of the business sector in writing their final report which is due in July.

On Friday, some 70 people will meet at the Forum’s offices in Geneva to discuss climate change policy in Switzerland and the role of various actors in implementing it. Co-organized with the government’s Swiss Agency for the Environment, particpants will include people from business, public sector, academica and society.

Since the Kyoto Protocol came into effect on 16 February 2005, Switzerland is examining its responsibilities under that agreement. "Climate policy is an important part of environmental policy, but it is also innovation policy, presenting opportunities both for the environment and for business," the Swiss Agency said. "At this conference, we shall discuss the tasks and duties – in the area of climate policy – that political circles, the public administration, business, scientific circles and civil society have to be aware of."
