I just discovered Randy’s blog, the blog of Boeing’s VP of marketing who shares with us his predictions on the evolution of passengers traffic over the next 20 years between Europe and China. Isn’t it amazing ?

The economic consequences of such an increase both in China and Europe are still difficult to understand, but a boom of tourism is already starting to happen.

If high speed electric trains could be developed much oil could be saved & pollution reduced as trains could handle much of the work most airlines are doing. These could be powered by wind farms or other green power systems.

According to the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), China aspires to be a world travel and tourism power by 2020.
A few figures:
1. Inbound Arrival – Foreing arrivals: from 10 million in 2000 to 45 million in 2020 (CARG 8%)
2. Outbound trips: From 10 million in 2000 to 37 million in 2020 (CAGR 7%. The World Travel & Tourism Organisation estimates tht China will produce 100 million outbound tourists by 2020!!!
The economic consequences of such a dramatic increase in China have been estimated by recent studies to be the following:
1. Travel & Tourism Income- International Receipts: from US$15 billion in 2000 to US$82 billion in 2020 ( CAGR= 9%)
2. Job Creation: 40 million new jobs will be created to service this booming industry in the next 10 years!
The figures presented do not take into account the increase returns generated by indirect industries linked to the tourism industry!

May Chinese civilization more effective than us ?
Did Admiral Zheng He, a mid 15th century Chinese Explorer redraw map of History…or just simply The entire History !
Who reached for the first time America ? The genoese Spanish sponsored Columbus or the mid 15th century Chinese Admiral Zheng He, something like 70 years before Europeans.? That is the question ! And response is not obvious for most part of historians for who the research of the truth just begin.
Recently revealed by M. Liu Gang (a Chinese lawyer and collector) that map seams to prove the Chinese had detailed knowledge of world geography long before Columbus, Magellan or Vasco de Gama treks. Li Xiaocong, deputy-director of the China Ancient History Research Center of Beijing University, said ” that if experts confirmed the authenticity of the chart which was claimed to be drawn in 1459, navigation history would be rewritten”
According to Chinese sources, the 1405 expedition fleet consisted of 30,000 men and 317 ships. Were we even able to do so at that time ? With that amazing naval army, Zheng He explored Southeast Asia to the Red Sea and North Australia to America may be ! However this “new history” has to be confirmed by historians works.
Nevertheless, if ever this story was true the China’s contemporaneous emergence has not to be looked at a surprise, but at a great civilization fair fate return. China is accurately a key topic of debate at the Annual Meeting in Davos.

And referred to the prévious comment, Passengers traffic over the next 20 years between Europe and China will not have extreme growth, but huge one, like a giant and permanent suspension bridge.
