Dear Mr. Petit,
My Prime Minister was simply pointing out that historians have not come up with unbiased and factual conclusions on what exactly happened in Eastern Anatolia in 1915. Armenian allegations are one sided, emotional and biased claims. You are referring to historians, and I can refer to other historians who think that you are wrong.
We want all archives, including Russian and Armenian archives to be made available to unbiased research. Only after that, historians should make conclusions.
Let me give you a preview on what we are expecting to find in these documents; That there was NOT a one-sided massacre, but a civil war in Eastern Anatolia in 1915. As in any civil war, there were armed conflicts and winners, as well as losers.
Now the 21st century is not a time of vengeance, but cooperation and prosperity. We are inviting our friends in neighboring Armenia to overcome their historic impediments and work with us to upgrade their country and their living standards. In the geography where Turkey is located, you can’t rewrite history and you can’t alter the borders. We are wise and experienced enough to testify that such attempts haven’t succeeded before, and won’t succeed in the future. Trust me Mr. Petit….
